Rec 3 is a great standalone zombie film if you can stand it's sometimes cheesy dark humor. TL DR Watch Rec 1 and 2, two of the best zombie movies ever made. I'm going to watch Rec apocalipsis sometime next week. I do most definitely enjoy the film, if only because it's a great movie that should be viewed as. Instead, Rec 3 would have been a good stand alone zombie movie with lots of subtle and not so subtle dark humor speckled in it. Also, it helps to be familiar with Spanish culture to get some of the dark humor the film has. However after watching REC parts 1 and 2 I can say a really engrossing story is starting to emerge and I can’t wait to watch the next three movies that are available in this series. Prior to me starting to watch the REC movies, I didn’t know there was 5 movies in the series so far.

Instead, you get none of that, the only real connection is a cheap slap of the 'prequel' tag on it with some relevant information given in the movie itself. REC 2 turned out to be an excellent addition the REC series. Thus, you want the same claustrophobic camera work, a continuation of the story, etc. My initial feeling was to hate it, and that's because it is slapped with the Rec title. Keeps the feel of the first movie very well, just as gripping and thrilling as the first one. Stay tuned for any US release details.Rec 2, while not as fantastic as Rec, is a great flick. The film stars Leticia Dolera, Diego Martín and Javier Botet and is set to hit theaters in Spain in March 2012. Genesis will explore the origins of the mutant virus that has turned people into zombies (which was only partially explained in 2) with co-writer Luis Berdejo returning to write the prequel with Plaza. Paco Plaza and Jaume Balaguero, who co-directed both and 2, are co-developing this prequel as well as the sequel Apocalypse, together, but then each will go solo for the directing gigs with Plaza helming Genesis and Balaguero taking Apocalypse. Watch the new full trailer for Paco Plaza's 3 Genesis, originally via Bloody-Disgusting: However, I feel like they've started to jump the shark - it's no longer found footage and it just looks like s cheesy stuck-in-one-place, surrounded-by-zombies escape movie. They also definitely upped the budget and the number of infected. We've already seen one teaser for this prequel, but this new trailer gives us a better idea of the story and location (it's a wedding!). Thanks to a debut on Bloody-Disgusting, you can now watch the official trailer for Paco Plaza's 3 Genesis with English subtitles, even though they're not really needed.
